External Events

From 2001 until 2012, the Club held an annual tournament every January which attracted up to 96 Scrabble players from across the UK. The tournament field was split into three equally sized divisions, the divisional splits being based upon ability. This uses the National Scrabble Players Rating System.

In addition to other prizes, the winner of the top division was awarded a trophy, donated by Fujitsu Services, to hold for a year. A further prize was awarded to the person from one of the three Berkshire Scrabble Clubs, namely: West Berks, Reading, and East Berks, who achieved the best playing record on the day, irrespective of what division they were competing in.
The proceeds from these tournaments were donated to a local charity which is selected by a ballot of Club members.
